The courses and activities offered by the Jewish Studies program encompass the entire history of the Jewish people, from Biblical times down to the modern period. Within the extensive time period covered, the program provides a diverse array of learning experiences to our students; the expertise of our faculty includes history, philosophy, religion, language, literature, archeology, and anthropology, and more.

May 2008 Study-Abroad class goes to Berlin. Under the leadership of Linda Short, the class will spend a week visiting Holocaust-related sited ad memorials in and around the city and examine issues related to Holocaust education in Germany. Through August 22, 2008 Anyone Would Have Done That: The Rescue of the 13 Jews from Ergoldsbach, Germany. An exhibit in the Diversity Studies Room, 109 Pattee Library.

Ben Schreier appointed Malvin and Lea Bank Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies and English (starting Fall 2008) Michael Paradiso-Michau appointed Malvin and Lea Bank Post-doctoral Fellow in Jewish Studies and Philosophy (starting Fall 2008) Tobias Brinkmann appointed Malvin and Lea Bank Associate Professor of Jewish Studies and History (starting Spring 2009)
Students study the animal bones from the sacred precinct at Tel Dan, Israel, in the Jewish Studies zooarchaeology center in Pond Lab.
